Lithium-Ion Batteries
Due to the extremely high energy density of LiIon cells they can be seen as a significant improvement to conventionally used NiH2 cells and NiCd cells in satellites.

In comparison with conventional energy systems, LiIon batteries economize on weight and volume by up to 50%. The power and cycle yields of the latest developments are comparable to NiCd and NiH2.
