Thermal batteries are used almost exclusively in high-tech applications in the military and in aeronautic sectors.

They are used whereever, besides high mechanical load, long storage life without self-discharge and maintenance, high electrical performance with short activation time is also required.

The distinctive feature of the thermal battery is the electrolyte which exists as a non-conducting set. These sets are only activated when needed, by means of an integrated heating set. The thus created warmth in the battery heats the set-electrolytes until conductive. As soon as the electrolyte is conductive and active electrode material is available, energy can be tapped from the battery
